Get Involved

While most of the activities at Supernormal are available to drop in on a whim, one or two require a little more forward planning.

Fri 19:00 – Open Mic at the Bare Plume Cafe/ Wish you’d been here Bar

Join “Our Laura” in the Bare Plume Cafe/ Wish you’d been here Bar on Friday 7th August who will be hosting an evening of light entertainment and joining-in, including a pub quiz and ample opportunity to get to know your new neighbours.

There will be lots lots of ‘open mic’ slots throughout the evening and guess what? There’s no agenda! You can do whatever you like as long as it’s roughly 5-10 minutes max and requires no more than a microphone and maybe a bit of music (bring it with you on your phone or send it to me in advance by email).

If you have any questions or you want to sign up, email [email protected] You can always sign up on the day too…

Sat midnight (120 mins) Lovely Lady Lumps Alt-Femme Karaoke

The Nomadic Female DJ Troupe lead this karaoke session with only one rule for the music selected – gotta be by a girl*! Karaoke classics are welcome but The NF DJs would love to hear some more alternative and diverse selections of sing-a-long-able tracks by female artists and composers.

Wanna make sure your favourite song gets included? Post it on the Supernormal Facebook page for Nomadic Female DJs Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram Post this form in the Karaoke Request Box at the Village Green Notice Board

*Girl = girls, women, and anyone self-identifying as female. This is an inclusive event aimed at raising the profile of the female artist/performer/composer and you don’t need to be female to sing or take part, everyone is welcome in this celebration of music by women!

Sat / Sun 10:30 (75 mins) MORNING LIFE DRAWING SESSIONS

Morning life drawing sessions are informal sessions open to all ages and abilities with help at hand and all materials provided. If you’re interested in modelling, be sure to arrive early.

Sun 12:00 (120 mins) SPACE FAMILY ROBO-DISCO WITH JOHN DORAN

At midday on Sunday there is two hours of interplanetary grooving to be done at the Red Kite Stage at the all-ages Space Family Robo Disco. We want everyone to have an interstellar time, so if you or any of your kids want to hear their favourite (dance, disco, pop) songs, please, leave a comment on facebook with your suggestions. We suggest that everyone wears fancy dress and the fabulous Natalie Sharp will be on hand to apply moondust (or glitter as it’s sometimes known)… See you there!

Sun 15:00 (180 mins) SAFEHOUSE OPEN IMPROV SESSION

Safehouse is a long-running improvisation night based in Brighton. Participants are picked at random forming small groups, and they then improvise together for 10 minutes or so while the remaining musicians act as audience, then the next group is formed and so on.

This year, Safehouse are coming to Supernormal and inviting you to perform in the barn at Braziers Park. Participation is open to all festival-goers, so pack your instrument (or whatever you choose to improvise on) if you think you might be keen to take part.

Supernormal CIC is a Community Interest Company registered in the United Kingdom #09315023 – 11 Denbigh Street, Bristol, Avon, BS2 8XG
